Manoel Messias de Jesus, a retired military police officer, and his wife, Cleide Mara, died after the pickup truck they were traveling in collided with a cargo truck on the Padre Manoel da Nóbrega highway in the city of Itariri, São Paulo. The couple, who lived in Vicentina, 248 km from Campo Grande, were well-known in the city.
The accident occurred on Wednesday morning (17). The couple and two other people were in the pickup truck, which was hit by the cargo truck traveling towards Itanhaém, a city in the interior of São Paulo. Due to the impact, the pickup truck was thrown off the side of the road.
Manoel and Cleide were trapped in the wreckage. They did not survive and died at the scene. The condition of the injured passengers is still unknown. A section of the road was partially blocked off to attend to the incident.
The couple was well-known in the Vicentina region. Many friends posted messages of condolence on social media. “Two great friends. Our hearts are broken,” posted the Anglo-Catholic Community of Santa Filomena, from Nova Andradina, to which the couple belonged.
